Vintage Attitude - The Perfect Boat

I Love this drawing It says it all.
Yup! Bob Bitchin of Cruising Outpost Magazine got it right about how I love my old 1976 Morgan 41 Out Island. Even with all its needed work it is still the perfect boat for me.

I participate in a lottery pool and one of the guys asked me "if we win are you going to buy a new boat?"  I said hell no! but I will get me a couple cases of rum and sit in the cockpit and supervise all the refit work that needs to be done.

I just have not seen a boat, new or old, that works out as well, just for me. I dont even like other Morgan 41's that have a different layout, as well as I love my boat. It fits my lifestyle it fits me.

BTW..I met Bob Bitchin at the boat show last year and had a nice conversation with a cool boat dude.

Naked Sailing !! I need a license for that?

I just read a funny and informative blog about sailing the ocean blue, au naturel, that means nude, naked, without apparel. I thought it was just me, but according to the Cygnus III Blog it's quite common to sail naked.

Read this funny article, click here...  Sailing Naked   at
The Cygnus III Liveaboard and Sailing Blog

It seems the author Mark Roope has a license for nude sailing so I figured I better get one also, before the authorities cancel my subscription to "Whale Watch Monthly" So here is my naked sailing license posted in a public spot.

The Refit Continues

Well its January and I had hoped to have some completed photos ready but its going really slow now. A whole lot of stuff is done but nothing is completely finished.  The galley, forward head, and the vee berth are just about done. The detail trim and final paint are taking a long time and the teak trim is expensive and I am waiting for the kitty to build up a bit to buy all new teak trim.

Since I dont have any completed photos to show, I guess I will post a few of the demolition of the galley.  We tore off all the old Formica and then found some wood rot in the cabinets so all of the cabinets were rebuilt with new wood.

Thats it for the demolition a lot more has been done since this last photo, the top is on and sink and faucet is installed most hardware and some trim and paint is done, so will post more when completed.
